This page explains what happens to your data when you visit vireltify.com. It is written for readers, not for lawyers, but it covers what the GDPR requires.
Who is responsible
The controller of this website is Marcos Bustos, based in Spain. Email: vireltify@gmail.com.
What is collected, and why
- Server logs. The hosting provider, Hostinger, records technical data such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request, so the site can be served and kept secure. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6.1.f GDPR).
- Email you send me. If you write to me, your address and your message are used only to answer you, and to fix the article if you sent a correction. Legal basis: your own request (Art. 6.1.b and 6.1.f GDPR).
- Audience measurement. With your consent, Google Analytics (installed through Google Site Kit) counts visits, pages viewed, approximate location at country or city level, and device type. It is used in aggregate; I do not try to identify individual readers. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6.1.a GDPR).
- Advertising. With your consent where it is required, Google AdSense serves ads on this site. See the next section.
There are no user accounts on this site. Comments are held for manual approval; if you leave one, your name, email and the text are stored in the site database along with your IP address. There is no newsletter and no mailing list, so nothing is collected for one.
Advertising, and how to opt out
Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info, or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
More detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services is on this Google page.
Cookies and consent
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from Google, a consent management platform certified by Google and registered with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, appears before any non-essential cookie is set. It has a consent button and a refuse button at the same level, and an options screen. Whatever you choose, you can change it later from Privacy & cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
The individual cookies, what they do and how long they last are listed on the cookie policy page.
How long data is kept
Server logs are kept for the period set by the hosting provider. Emails are kept while the exchange is still useful and deleted within twelve months after that. Analytics data is kept for the retention period configured in Google Analytics. Your consent choice is stored in your browser for up to twelve months, after which the message appears again. Approved comments stay with the article until you ask me to remove them.
Who else sees your data
Hostinger, as the hosting provider, processes data on my instructions. Google Ireland Limited processes analytics and advertising data as described above. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else. These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards the GDPR allows, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Links to other sites
Articles link out to tool vendors, official documentation and other websites, and some of those links may be affiliate links, which are labelled where they appear. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site, with their privacy policy and their cookies. This policy does not cover them.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, for it to be corrected or erased, for processing to be restricted, for portability, and you can object to processing. You can also withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect what was done before you withdrew it. Write to vireltify@gmail.com and say what you want; I answer these myself.
If you think your data has been handled badly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency, the AEPD (aepd.es).
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If the site starts using a new service, or one of these providers changes what it does, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
